SNIPE Mission for Space Weather Research

چکیده

The Small Scale magNetospheric and Ionospheric Plasma Experiment (SNIPE)’s scientific goal is to observe spatial temporal variations of the micro-scale plasma structures on topside ionosphere. four 6U CubeSats (~10 kg) will be launched into a polar orbit at ~500 km. distances each satellite controlled from 10 km more than ~1,000 by formation flying algorithm. SNIPE mission equipped with identical instruments, Solid-State Telescopes(SST), Magnetometers(Mag), Langmuir Probes(LP). All payloads have high resolution (sampling rates about Hz). Iridium communication modules provide an opportunity upload emergency commands change operational modes when geomagnetic storms occur. SNIPE’s observations dimensions, occurrence rates, amplitudes, spatiotemporal evolution cap patches, field-aligned currents (FAC), radiation belt microbursts, equatorial mid-latitude blobs bubbles determine their significance solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere interaction quantify impact space weather. CubeSat constellation, mission, Soyuz-2 Baikonur Cosmodrome in 2023.

The Space Weather and Ultraviolet Solar Variability (SWUSV) Microsatellite Mission

We present the ambitions of the SWUSV (Space Weather and Ultraviolet Solar Variability) Microsatellite Mission that encompasses three major scientific objectives: (1) Space Weather including the prediction and detection of major eruptions and coronal mass ejections (Lyman-Alpha and Herzberg continuum imaging); (2) solar forcing on the climate through radiation and their interactions with the lo...

Space Weather Support for Communications

Ionospheric variability (space weather) significantly impacts ground and space-based communications. In essence, the electrically charged particles of the ionosphere (i.e., the partially ionized portion of the atmosphere starting at about 40 nautical miles (nm) above the Earth's surface) can attenuate, totally absorb, reflect, change direction of propagation, and change the phase and amplitude ...

Research Environment and Information Service of the Space Weather Cloud

For researches and information services of space weather, it is important to establish a comprehensive system which enables us to analyze observation and simulation data in an integrated manner. For this, we constructed recently a new computing environment called the “Space Weather Cloud Computing System” of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). Now, the Sp...

The Space Interferometry Mission

The Space Interferometry Mission (SIM) will be 10-m Michelson interferometer in Earth-trailing solar orbit. AS a part of NASA's Origins program, it will be the first space-based optical interferometer designed for precision astrometry. As well as enabling forefront astronomical science, SIM will serve as a technology pathfinder for future Origins missions, such as the Terrestrial Planet Finder ...

Forecasting Space Weather

Forecasting space weather events presents the ultimate challenge to a space physics model. Not only should physical constraints be satisfied, but also practical issues such as timeliness, accuracy, and reliability must be adequately addressed. To address these needs, modern space weather forecasters and users rely on a great variety of space weather models, ranging from simple regressions and e...
